Frameworks:
A framework creates integrity, linking each element and showing how they relate and depend on each other.
Based on principles, a framework forms the structural backbone of a successful business. By considering all the elements, you can see what needs to be in place to support where you're going. As business shifts, driven by expansion or new technology or innovation, we can look at the framework for the principles to help drive further success.
Systems
Not the same, but similar to frameworks are systems.
When considering systems, probably the most well known is McDonalds. Everywhere you go, the McDonalds restaurant will be the same, the burgers the same, the fries, the drinks, the menu - you know what to expect because the system is rolled out to create a consistent, repeatable product. This framework of a system established the model for franchise businesses across the world - every branded-franchise have the same systems, does it the same way and gives you the same results, regardless of who does the work.
In a business, we want the same thing - repeatable steps to create predictable results regardless of who does the work. In order for you to get your time back and increase revenue, you need leverage - to duplicate and replace yourself - have others do the work with predictable results. If results vary, you can back-track across the system and determine what didn't work. This is one way of working smarter, not harder.
The Frameworks I am guided by cover:
Focus
Fix what is broken, manage risks, improve the opportunities and grow from a secure base. Trying to grow when parts of the business don't work properly can be frustrating and waste time, money and effort
The Right Order - what do you do first?
If there is reliance on one person, there are no systems, so no leverage and no freedom
If you make sales but systems don’t work, results are inconsistent and you lose time in rework or delays
If you have great marketing but can’t close sales, you’ve lost opportunity
If you sell but can’t deliver what is sold, you damage your reputation
If you deliver but make no money - you go broke
Which one should you start with?
